One of the greatest joys of my job is being in the presence of love. All the joy and all of the romance. I get to spend my Saturdays immersed in each couple’s unique love story.
Allison and James made this past weekend nothing short of magical. They chose to have an intimate wedding at Ascension Chapel on the Augustana campus, surrounded by their children and immediate family. The day was relaxed and light-hearted, with the focus truly on the joining of Allison and James’ two families.
I knew James was a sweet, romantic kind of fella, but I seriously wasn’t prepared for the moment he saw Allison in her wedding dress in the Hotel Blackhawk lobby. There was true happiness radiating from them. I got goosebumps and the whole she-bang.
The music throughout the ceremony was simple and sweet– including The Beauty and the Beast, Forest Gump, and Winnie the Pooh theme songs, as well as a Kenny Chesney favorite.
And then, after the ceremony was over and family portraits had wrapped up, James had a guest play the couple’s song. No one was expecting the music and the instant that Allison heard their song playing. James wanted to make sure he gave Allison an official first dance. ** Cue the awwwwwwwwwws.**
